Winter 23/24 Recap

High School

Basketball
The Boys Basketball team finished the 2023/24 season strong and competed in the SWPAA play-offs. The team completed its second official season in the SWPAA under guidance of Head Coach Jamin Harris and Assistant Coaches Noah Beighley and Keith Bull as well as Trainer Joyce Williams. 

Player Tobias Howard  was selected on the SWPAA Boys Basketball All Star Team, the first ECS player ever receiving post-season honors. The goal is for the program to compete in the WPIAL starting the 2024/25 season.

Cheerleading
This past season was also the first official season for the Cheerleading program. Under guidance of Coach Tiffany McNarry and Erin Knight, the first year squad cheered during the basketball team’s home games as well as a pair of away games including the play-off game.

Both the Basketball team as well as the Cheerleading team were honored during the High School Winter Sports Banquet. A special thanks to Joyce Williams, Elizabeth Grigsby, and Carolyn Manley for all the hard work putting this special event together as well as to Mr. Jackson/Master of Ceremony and Dr. Leeper/Keynote Speaker.

Middle School

Basketball
2023/24 was the first season for the Middle School Boys Basketball program, competing in the SWPAA Middle School league. The team coached by Coach Brown and Coach Parker finished as runners-up playing in the league’s championship game. Special thanks for all the support of the Middle School staff and teachers and especially all the students attending games!

Cheerleading and Track and Field
7th & 8th Grade Cheerleading and Track & Field conditioning were offered at the club level. Thanks for Coach Traynor, Coach Maddock, and Coach King for organizing and coaching.

Intermediate School

Students at the Intermediate School participated in 3 v 3 Basketball and Futsal at the club level. Thanks to coaches Smith and Sebastian for organizing 3 v 3 Basketball and to coaches Evans and Graswick(Mr. G.) for organizing Futsal.


Spring 2024 Preview

High School

The Track & Field program will start its second consecutive year under the guidance of Coach April Hill. The co-ed team will compete in a number of Invitationals as well as the SWPAA Championships. The goal is to start competing at the WPIAL level in the spring of 2025, including dual meets!

Coach Jamin Harris’s goal is to start a boys’ baseball club this spring for students in grades 9–12. The club will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at Heth’s Field for 7 weeks starting April 16th. 

Middle School

Coach Traynor, Coach Hunneycutt, Coach Brown, and Coach King will lead the Girls & Boys Track & Field programs this spring. The teams will compete in a number of Invitationals and Meets including the SWPAA Championships on May 10th @ Shadyside Academy. Besides the Track & field program, 6th grade Cheerleading, 6th & 7th grade Co-Ed Soccer, and 7th & 8th grade Boys Flag Football will be offered at the Middle School this spring, all at the club level.

Intermediate

The Intermediate School will offer a flag football program as well as a kickball program! Planning is also on the way to start a cross country program at the Intermediate level starting the fall of 2024.
