ENVIRONMENTAL CHARTER SCHOOL (ECS) WELCOMES RETIRED PITTSBURGH PUBLIC SCHOOLS’ (PPS) ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES AS HIGH SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL 

PITTSBURGH (August 15, 2024)— The Environmental Charter School (ECS) is pleased to announce Dr. Rodney Necciai as the high school assistant principal effective for the 2024–2025 school year.  

Necciai comes to ECS with 28 years of experience within the Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS) in various capacities. Necciai recently retired from the Assistant Superintendent of PPS Student Support Services role in which he served for four years. 

Throughout his 28 year tenure, Necciai also held positions as Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Leadership, principal at Knoxville K–5, Phillips K–5 and Langley K–8, assistant principal at Prospect and Arsenal Middle Schools and a health and physical education teacher. 

Necciai holds a Doctorate of Education from the University of Pittsburgh, a Masters of Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Science in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

“Rodney’s extensive and diverse professional experience is an asset to the ECS community,” Dr. Amanda Cribbs, Superintendent said. “With Rodney’s background and drive, he has the ability to bring our mission and vision to the forefront of our ECHS culture.”

Necciai’s expertise extends beyond the school building as he has also led professional learning sessions on various topics at district, state and national conferences. Additionally, Necciai is also qualified as a Restorative Practices Trainer and shares best practices and insights at international conferences for the International Institute of Restorative Practices (IIRP).-more-

As Necciai anticipates the beginning of the school year he expressed his excitement for his new position: “I am eager to start this new chapter in my professional life. I’m looking forward to working directly with students again and fostering meaningful connections with the greater ECS community. Along with our stellar faculty, I aim to help our students master the skills they need to become thoughtful citizens and advocates.”
