Spring 2024 ECS Athletics Recap and Fall 2024 ECS Athletics Preview

Spring 2024 Recap

High School

Coach April Hill coached the co-ed HS Track & Field team for the second consecutive year.  The team competed in a couple of Invitational meets as well as the SWPAA Championships. The program is slowly growing, and we are hopeful to build on this year’s young team.

A group of students under the leadership of Noah Beighley participated in a golf program organized through the First Tee Golf program. We are working with the management of First Tee on how to grow the program!

Finally, both the Boys Basketball team and the Girls Volleyball team participated in off-season work-outs in preparation for the 2024/25 school year!

Middle School

Coach Traynor, Coach King, Coach Huneycutt, and Coach Brown led the Girls & Boys Track & Field programs this spring. The teams competed in a number of Invitationals and Meets including the SWPAA Championships on May 10th @ Shadyside Academy. The MS Girls team won the SWPAA Championship and Dede Cain was selected as the MS Girls Meet MVP with Dara Scott-Hope winning both the long jump as well as the high jump competition! Many school records were broken/set throughout the season with George Hawkins breaking the 1:00 minute mark in the Boys 400 Meters. Special thanks to Nikole Sheaffer for securing a grant for the program through the Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation. The grant allowed us to purchase jackets, backpacks, and uniforms for the athletes as well as additional equipment.

Besides the Track & Field program, Boys 7th & 8th Grade Flag Football was offered at the club level as well as 6th and 7th Grade Coed Soccer. Thanks to Coach Beighly for organizing and coaching Flag Football and to Coach Vince Angelo for leading the Soccer program.

Intermediate School

Flag Football as well as Kickball were offered at the Intermediate School. Coach Smith and Coach Hopper led the program and students enjoyed learning the skills and competing in scrimmages. The always popular Kickball program had 30 students enrolled and once again was the most popular program in regards to the number of participants. Coach Devine, Coach Sebastian, and Coach Smith taught the students how to play the game and participated in some fierce competition! Of course, the always popular “Kids vs Teachers’ ” game was played at the end of the Kickball season.

Thanks to all coaches for making the spring season at the Intermediate level fun for students and staff!
