Student Column: Basketball & Black History Month at ECHS

Hi, I’m DaVante. I’m in 10th grade at ECS. I’ve been at ECS for five years and am a member of the basketball team. We just finished our first season, and it was a lot of fun to be a part of the first-ever ECS basketball team. I had to get used to playing with some of the players. Recently, I attended a Historically Black Colleges and Universities Tour (HBCU) tour with our college and career leaders and learned a lot about some pathways for me after high school. ECS is a good school for talking about the environment and sustainability. The teachers here are very calm with students that have learning disabilities. Other schools haven’t always been helpful for me when it comes to doing my work. I like my teachers here more than any other school I’ve been to and am excited for my future at ECHS! Go Hawks!
