September 2023 ECHS Construction Update
Dear ECS Stakeholders,
It has been a moment since I last updated you regarding the ECHS Construction project. You might recall, at the end of the 22–23 School Year, our construction timeline was delayed after public bidding came in much higher than anticipated.
Over the summer, Dr. Cribbs, the Superintendent, and I continued to meet with AVON Design Group to discuss our collective efforts to reduce costs in preparation for rebidding the project. We have reviewed floor plans, building components, and nonnegotiable school needs. Based on our conversations, the design team diligently worked to “value engineer” the school without compromising healthy student-focused spaces. While the redesign efforts were lengthy, the process was also an opportunity to reimagine several innovative instructional spaces.
In collaboration with the ECS Board of Trustees, I am excited to announce that not only will it continue its relationship with AVON Design Group, but the district has issued a request for proposal (RFP) to identify a construction management service. With the rebid of the project, ECS is determined to publish a new construction timeline in the coming weeks.
In that same vein, I am grateful for the ECS Board of Trustees’ commitment and continued support of the ECHS Construction project. Not only did they convene for a special board meeting to ensure a speedy resolution, but they also took the time during the September board meeting to confirm the final details that allowed ECS to go to bid in search of construction management services.
