Reminder: 6–8 Curriculum Night– Oct. 11 from 5:30–7 p.m.
Dear Middle School Families,
As a follow-up from my October Principal Newsletter, ECMS is thrilled to put a twist on our annual Curriculum Night on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 5:30–7 p.m. When you attend, not only will you gain an understanding of a day in the life of your student, but you will also have the opportunity to choose from a variety of workshops and presentations.
When you arrive, select relevant sessions that are of interest to you to attend. Each session will last around 28 minutes. The sessions that we have planned are:
Grade Level Curriculum Overview will discuss what to expect from the school year in terms of academic expectations for students as well as any special projects to look for during the year.
Alma 101 will walk you through what to know about using Alma to keep up with your student’s academics.
A Guide to CREW. CREW is where students meet to work on Social Emotional Learning and check in on grades and their learning in general. This is sometimes called homebase in other schools. We will review what happens in CREW and what students may be talking about.
Bullying and Conflict Resolution will review the school’s shared definition of bullying and explore the supports available for bullying and conflict resolution.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) will dive into the different avenues in which our students engage in SEL throughout the school day, and we will talk about how you might continue the conversation with your student at home.
Self-Guided Coping Skills Walkthrough is a self-guided coping skills presentation that walks you through the coping skills that your student learns about at school.
Environmental Citizenship Walkthrough takes a deep dive into this new program, its expectations, and its evolution.
Math Curriculum Walkthrough showcases what is happening in Math, changes that have been made for the 23–24 school year, and where math is headed in the future.
Cultural Literacy Walkthrough showcases key happenings in Cultural Literacy.
Independent Reading Walkthrough will explore our new independent reading initiative happening in literacy.
ECMS is dedicated to providing educational experiences for our families that help bridge students’ school and home lives while providing the tools to have engaged and thoughtful conversations with students about school happenings and beyond. We look forward to seeing you there!
Sincerely,
Nick Tutolo
