Mr. McCree's Message to ECHS Students

Dear ECHS Families,

First and foremost, I would like to welcome our ninth-grade students to high school. As you embark on this next educational journey, know that I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you. To our new tenth-grade students, I am pleased to continue working with you and supporting your academic careers.

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Cornell McCree, and I am currently the assistant principal at ECHS. I have worked in the high school setting for more than four years, and I started at ECS as the 9th-grade social studies teacher before transitioning to the assistant principal role.

Today, I am writing to inform you that current ECHS principal, Dr. Virginia Hill is departing from her position as principal and growing into the position of Executive Director of Academics at ECS in August. To support her transition into this new leadership role, I will shift to the interim principal of ECHS until a more permanent position is determined.

Over the next several weeks, I will work closely with Dr. Hill. Her mentorship will help steer the ship as ECHS moves into its second year of operation, and I am thrilled to continue and expand on the great work the high school team has already accomplished. I am firmly rooted in the core values and principles of ECHS and my positions throughout my time here have allowed me to familiarize myself with the students and organization. I am committed to building onto the foundation Dr. Hill developed for the high school and can assure you that the high school team is well equipped and prepared to make this transition together. I am dedicated to sustaining an environment and space for all students, maintaining the already established culture of ECHS, and supporting staff as they continue to produce innovative and high-quality education.

Due to this adjustment, I will no longer host my Crew, however, you will be in excellent hands as Mrs. Hasis will take over. While I am sad to see Dr. Hill leave, I hope you join me in wishing her the very best.  I will continue to lean on her guidance and expertise as she is not going too far away. She will continue to advise and consult the high school team as needed and remains a vital part of the ECHS family as we continue to grow.

In the meantime, I look forward to taking this next step with students and families. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this transition, please know that my door is always open. Feel free to email, call, or schedule a time to talk.

I hope you are all enjoying your summer break, and I will see you in the fall!

Sincerely,

Cornell McCree
