Dear ECMS Families and Community Members,

I am delighted to welcome you to the 2024–2025 school year. The team has worked hard all summer to create the foundation for the best experience possible for our students as they begin or continue their journey to agency. At ECMS, we grow students who care deeply about our world and see pathways to impact. We want to ensure that our students have many opportunities and experiences so that they can see their place in the world.

We believe that partnerships with families and the community are crucial in ensuring the success of all of our students. We look forward to fostering this partnership at our annual meet and greet on Friday, Aug. 16 from 4:30–6:30 where students and families will have an opportunity to meet their new teachers, tour the building, and receive their schedules and locker assignments. You can come when you are available and stay as long as you want. Additionally, one of our community partners, Riverstone Books, will host a pop-up book fair at Meet and Greet. Finally a PRT ambassador will also have a table set up during Meet and Greet for anyone interested in learning more about PRT transportation.

We can’t wait to see your student on the first day of school on Tuesday, August 20th. Whether you are new to ECMS or have been here for years, we are grateful to have you as a part of our school community. We know that the middle school years can be hard, but we believe that when we are on this journey together, we can make these the most impactful years of our students' lives.

Please take a moment to review my video that explains the details of this communication.

Sincerely,

Nick Tutolo
ECMS Principal

What's new at Middle School?

School Day Time Shift

As a reminder, the ECMS day has shifted 10 minutes earlier, and therefore will end 10 minutes earlier. The school day now runs from 8:40–3:40, and students can now enter the building at 8:20.

ECMS Student and Family Handbook

For ease, important ECMS specific information, such as building times and procedures, was consolidated and can be found in our ECMS Student and Family Handbook.

ECMS Phone Policy

Our new practice can be simplified to ‘off and away.’ Devices which include cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, or other cellular connected devices must be turned off and placed in locked lockers throughout the day. If any of these devices are visible throughout the school day, they will be confiscated and a parent or guardian must pick them up.

Digital Hall Pass

ECMS will implement a digital hall pass system in order to track student movement in and out of class. You may receive notifications from the system if your student is late to class.
