Dear ECS Stakeholders,

While there’s little to report this month, ECS remains dedicated to working with its architect to alter the construction schedule based on redesign efforts needed to support the district’s budget for the project. Once this process is completed, ECS will prepare to rebid the project. Nonetheless, I can assure you that I will provide an updated construction timeline as soon as possible.

I recognize that this news is less than ideal, however, as we continue the “value engineering” process, the district is unwavering in its commitment to building a space that will emblemize the UN Sustainable Development Goals. One aspect that will not falter is ECHS’s connection to Goal 7, affordable and clean energy.

The new ECHS building is electric! Electrifying everything allows ECS to decrease its use of natural resources such as gas and coal, and instead, replace them with renewable energy like solar, wind, and water. ECHS is slated to have an Energy Use Intensity (EUI) between 14 to 20 per year. For example, EUI is to buildings what miles per gallon (mpg) is to cars. This projection is well under the EUI Average Index of 59 for K–12 schools.

Stay tuned for an updated construction timeline coming soon. Thank you for your continued support.

Be Well,

Jon McCann
