Intermediate School Welcome Letter 24–25
Dear ECS Intermediate Families,
We would like to extend a special welcome from ECS Intermediate to our new and returning families! We are incredibly excited to kick off the 2024–2025 school year with you. We are looking forward to creating a developmentally appropriate space for students in 3rd–5th grade to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We feel privileged to begin or continue our partnership with you as we collaborate together in order to support the children in all aspects of their learning. This teamwork will ultimately have the children reach their goals of growing into knowledgeable and empathetic citizens with an insatiable curiosity. This curiosity will lead them to explore the world in a way that will propel them to become creative, sustainable, and driven problem solvers for their communities and beyond.
On Aug. 23, our students will hear the call of the ECS hawk, signaling Intermediate’s annual House Sorting Ceremony. Our third grade students will participate in a special ceremony where they will join their fellow housemates in Kaurna (House of Compassion), Umojo (House of Unity), Inzet (House of Commitment), or Odwaga (House of Courage). During the House Sorting Ceremony, the children will receive their house t-shirts. Throughout the school year, students will partake in house team-building activities, developing a sense of community at the Intermediate School.
As we kick the year off with Meet and Greet on Friday, Aug. 16 from 4:30–6:30 p.m., please take a moment to welcome two additional staff members to the Intermediate team. Hannah Cramer has moved from our Interim Assistant Principal to our Assistant Principal. We are also grateful to have John Parker return as our Health and Physical Education teacher. During Meet and Greet, you will have the opportunity to talk to the staff, meet other families, and catch up on summer adventures. Remember to be a good neighbor, and be considerate when parking on the surrounding streets.
As a reminder, the first day of school is Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024. Our day at the Intermediate School starts at 8:20 a.m. with drop-off beginning at 8 a.m.

ECS values volunteers in our district. Individuals must have clearances uploaded into Raptor, ECS’s School Safety Software, in order to volunteer in any of our schools. Learn how to volunteer and what clearances are needed.

Free Breakfast and Lunch for All Students
ECS is a CEP district, and this year, all students K–12 are entitled to one free breakfast and one free lunch daily. ECS recommends that families add money to their student’s School Cafe account as there is a charge for a la carte items and second meals. ECS will not collect applications for Free or Reduced lunch. ECS will host its 3rd Annual Activities Fair on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Middle School. Join our clubs, sports, and activities advisors and ECS partner organizations for a fun-filled night of demonstrations, hands-on activities, and learning about out-of-school time offerings.
