Intermediate School Feb. Newsletter (21–22)

Dear Intermediate Families,

I hope you and your family are doing well.  As we kick off the month of February, the students have been involved in many events already. During the first week of February, the students participated in Black Lives Matter Week at School. This week has included various activities in which children will learn about young activists who have used their voices to create a positive change. On February 3rd, Summer Lee, who is a member of the PA House of Representatives for the 34th district, shared with the students how they can use their own voices for positive change. The students will also be participating in other activities throughout the month of February as we celebrate Black History Month.

Another cultural celebration that the students recently learned about is the Lunar New Year. At ECS, students learn about cultural celebrations through multiple methods, and one of our favorite ways to explain heritage is through food. While studying the Lunar New Year, students in the third grade made sweet rice dumplings. This was not only a tasty snack, but it also gave students a sneak peek into Lunar New Year traditions.

I look forward to a new year of possibilities and excitement at the Intermediate School.

Sincerely,

Laura Williams
