FEMA Emergency Alert Test: Tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 4

Dear ECS Families and Staff,

Tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 4th at approximately 2:20 p.m. ET, FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System.  The message that appears on individual’s phones will read: “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”

According to the FEMA press release, “The purpose of the Oct. 4 test is to ensure that the systems continue to be effective means of warning the public about emergencies, particularly those on the national level.”

Because the timing of this test will occur during school hours, ECS wanted to send a reminder that student and staff members’ phones will most likely alert them at this time. Sincerely,
