Dear ECS Families,

The countdown to the start of the school year has begun, and I am delighted to introduce ECS’s new parent portal hosted by Alma for the 21–22 school year. The Alma system will take the place of eSchoolPLUS and will help us manage school, classroom, and student information. In addition to educator tools, Alma helps families stay informed and on track with student learning. The portal provides access to:

  • School Calendar

  • Staff Directory

  • Attendance History

  • Assignments

  • Grades

  • and more!

On Wednesday, Aug. 11, you will receive an activation email directly from Alma with instructions for how to access your account. I encourage you to log in to the parent portal to learn your student’s Homebase teacher and to familiarize yourself with the platform.

In the meantime, Michelle Brooks, ECS’s student information systems coordinator, is here to tell you more about Alma’s capabilities and get you started.

As we transition to this new platform together, know that Alma will serve as an excellent tool to communicate with faculty and review your student’s progress and information. If you do not receive your activation information by the end of the day on Wednesday, Aug. 11, or if you have any questions, please reach out. You can also find a button to access Alma on the ECS school website. ECS students will receive their Alma login information once we have started school.

With the 21–22 School year rapidly approaching, ECS is completing its final preparations to ensure an in-person student return on Aug. 18. Please take a moment to review an updated timeline. I am greatly anticipating the start of the school year, and I look forward to seeing students and families for in-person learning on Aug. 18.

What’s New at ECS?

Bus Route Information
Please keep an eye on your email. You will receive your bus route information by Friday, Aug. 13 from ECS. If you do not receive an email by Saturday, Aug. 14, please email your building's office manager.

Fill Out the Back to School Packet ASAP
Please complete the back-to-school packet, if you have not completed it already.  You can access your back-to-school packet by logging into your SchoolMint account.  This packet contains important information that must be completed yearly.

Uniform Policy
New Dress Code Policy for grades 6-10!  Please see the dress code policy in the family handbook.


In Case You Missed It!

Free Chromebook Distribution 

During Meet and Greet Night, ECS will distribute some of our Chromebooks that are no longer in circulation to any family who needs them. The distribution will take place at the Intermediate School from 5:30–7:30 on August 16.  At this time, we are only allowing one per family. If you are unable to make it to the Intermediate school but wish to have a Chromebook or would prefer to have it delivered to your student’s classroom, please fill out this form

Please know that once distributed, they will no longer be managed, monitored, or serviced by the school.  Any issues that occur with the devices are no longer the responsibility of the Environmental Charter School.
