#ECSCares Day 2025
ECS is gearing up for its district-wide volunteering day, #ECSCares Day, on the last day of school on Thursday, June 12 from 9–11 a.m. Please review the important details below to ensure your student receives credit.
Thursday, June 12, is an asynchronous learning day, and students' participation in #ECSCares Day will count toward their attendance for school.
Parents/guardians must accompany their student at #ECSCares Day as well as provide transportation.
ECS recognizes that not all students can participate at volunteer sites. Any students who are unable to volunteer on-site must volunteer at home or in their community prior to the last day of school. Please see the ideas at the end of this communication for ways to get involved!
To ensure your child is marked present regardless of whether they are at a volunteer site or completing a service project on their own, please take a photo of them volunteering and post it on Facebook or Instagram using #ECSCaresDay2025, or send your photo to media@ecspgh.org.

ECMS Community Drive
Dear ECS Families,
We are excited to announce a community-wide donation drive organized by the Middle School Student Council! From April 21st through May 23rd, we will be collecting items to support three amazing organizations: Friendship Circle, Animal Friends, and the Homeless Children’s Education Fund.
Collection bins will be located at the entrances of Primary, Intermediate, and Middle School. Simply send donations in with your student, and they can place them in the designated bins.
We are collecting the following items:
For Animal Friends:
Unopened bags of dry cat, dog, or rabbit food (any size, any brand)
Canned pet food (for dogs, cats, kittens, and rabbits)
Unopened pet treats
Cat litter
Durable pet toys (e.g., KONG, Nylabone)
For the Homeless Children’s Education Fund:
Deodorant
Body spray
Lotions
Candy
Body wash
For Friendship Circle:
Fidgets (small sensory or stress-relief toys)
Thank you for helping us support these important causes. Your generosity makes a difference!
Sincerely,
ECS Middle School Student Council
From the Nursing Team:
Attached is some information about Lice at ECS. A few cases of lice have started to appear. We ask parents to check their student's heads weekly for the entire school year for any signs of lice as an infestation caught early is more easily treatable. Please notify your building nurse if your student has lice. This allows the nurses to check other students (table mates, locker mates, etc.). All information is kept confidential. We will never share names regarding lice.
More information is available on our Health Services Family Portal. Thank you all for your help with a very frustrating issue.
ECS Summer Sports Camp
Students entering grades 1-6 participate in multiple sports throughout the camp. Sports include soccer, flag football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, kickball. Funds raised by the program benefits the ECS Athletic Programs.
Monday-Thursday
8:45 am - 12 pm
Choice of 1-3 weeks: July 7-10; July 14-17; and/or July 28-31
