Additional ECS Hawk News

Pumpkin Parade

The Pumpkin Parade will take place on Thursday, October 31st at 10 a.m. on the baseball field. We ask that parents who plan to watch stand outside the perimeter of the field rather than inside the field (e.g. along the trail, outside the fence, etc). In the event of inclement weather and/or extremely wet conditions, an alternate parade route will be communicated to the families. This is a half-day for students with dismissal taking place at 11:20 a.m. ALL DISMISSAL CHANGES OR UPDATES must be entered in PICK UP PATROL prior to 10:45 a.m. on the 31st.

For more information on the Pumpkin Parade including costume guidelines and dismissal procedures click here.

ECS we CAN

ECS 2nd graders have launched a district-wide initiative called โ€œECS, We CANโ€ as a part of their capstone project. With a goal to recycle 100,000 cans, we need your help! Students will earn $1 for the Primary school for every 58 cans they collect. Plus, the top three winning schools will receive between $1000 to $3000! These funds will support ECS Primaryโ€™s environmental literacy out-the-door education opportunities.

Here's how you can help:

  • Save aluminum drink cans.

  • Do not crush them.

  • Arrange for drop off at your buildingโ€™s designated can drop off location.

  • ECS encourages and prefers adults to drop off aluminum cans.

  • If a student plans to transport aluminum cans themselves, they are not permitted to bring alcoholic cans.

Between now and April, ECS will also work with local businesses to collect aluminum cans, and we recognize that many of our ECS families own or work for local organizations that may be able to help increase our can collection. If your business is interested in contributing to the ECS We CAN project, please complete this form.

The ECS we CAN project is sponsored by PPG.

WPIAL's 4th Annual Food & Fund Drive

The ECHS Basketball team is participating in the 4th annual WPIAL Food & Fund Drive. Students of all ages are invited to aid in ECHS's effort to support our neighbors facing hunger. Canned food and non-perishable goods can be dropped off at the ECHS office. No donations will be accepted at the intermediate school. Monetary donations are accepted here.

Phipps Conservatory Eco Challenge

A group of 4th and 5th graders visited Phipps Conservatory for the Eco Challenge! They Crafted native butterflies, created a good web, and completed a scavenger hunt at Phipps! This was the kick off event for the Fairchild Challenges, a series of interdisciplinary environmentally themed challenges that students can participate in throughout the year.
