2021 End of the School Year Celebrations!
In-Person Fun and Field Days
Every year, ECS celebrates the end of the school year with outdoor games, classroom parties, fun days, field days, and so much more! While this time of the year is always special, the end of the 20–21 school year is very exciting as many members of our community are receiving their vaccines and a return to normal is on the horizon. Please see below each building’s end of the year celebration plans, and keep an eye on this page for additional updates as more activities may be added.
Primary and Intermediate Schools
Fun Day
Tuesday, June 15 & Wednesday, June 16
Students across the Primary and Intermediate buildings will be celebrating a long school year with some fun outdoor activities! This is not your traditional "field day," students will be playing games, making something to take home for the summer, and more! Please dress in play clothes, bring a water bottle, and wear sunscreen. Students will be outside most of the day!
Middle School
On Tuesday, June 15 & Wednesday, June 16, ECS Middle will operate on an adjusted schedule. Homebase and a shortened Block One and Block Two will be held on these dates. In-person students at ECS Middle will head out to Heth’s Field or Highland Park for Fun Days from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Students can look forward to outdoor games, a pizza lunch, and a Rita’s ice treat. We highly recommend students bring water bottles on this day.
Unfortunately, virtual students will not be able to join us due to covid restrictions. We plan to create a virtual fun day with activity suggestions for students to do at home which will be posted on the Middle School Website that week. We are looking for some donations to make the fun day extra fun. If you’re interested in contributing, you can sign up here. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Micco, MS Assistant Principal at 412-247-7970 ext. 512.

Opera House Fundraiser and Clean-up
The National Negro Opera House Fundraiser and Clean-up will take place on Wednesday, June 16. Support the NNOH by posting this fundraiser on your social media page. We are asking everyone in the Pittsburgh Area to give a dollar to the restoration of this historic property. Our goal is to raise $70K for the Opera House’s stabilization effort. Students who will participate in the clean-up will also need to have a parent/guardian complete this permission slip. We are also collecting donations to support the students that will be helping with the clean-up. If you are interested in supporting donations, below are the donations we are seeking for students:
We are asking students to remember to bring their reusable water bottles
Trash bags
Yard gloves
Sunscreen
Healthy Snacks
Field Day
On Thursday, June 17, ECHS will head out to Heth’s Field for a Field Day from 9 –11:30 a.m. Students can look forward to outdoor games and a pizza lunch. We highly recommend students dress in gym clothes, bring a water bottle, and wear sunscreen. Students will be outside most of the day!
