English 2

English II Grade 10         1 Credit

This course emphasizes reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills in alignment with state standards and Keystone Literature assessment anchors. Students will engage these foundational literacy skills across the curriculum here at ECHS and beyond, from post-secondary education and the workplace to their role as community members. In particular, we focus on building our capacity for independent reading, comparative analysis, and analytical writing. Minor assessments will allow students to collaborate in showing their understanding of literary form and author's purpose through text analysis, inquiry discussions, and design projects. Major assessments will ask students to demonstrate their learning through extended comparative analysis, long-term research projects, and creative writing applications. Students will take the Literature Keystone Exam in the spring.
