This course meets the guidelines for Pathway AMD.
From Jay-Z to Shakespeare, these artists use poetic elements to convey information and express emotion. In “Poetry and Hip Hop” students will learn how popular hip hop/rap artists utilize aesthetic language in their lyrics to touch on social challenges. By the end of the class, learners will be able to define and identify poetic elements such as end rhyme, internal rhyme, alliteration, etc. This media heavy class will challenge students to see their favorite hip hop/ rap songs in a new light by dissecting the lyrics. The only thing learners should bring is their love of hip hop rap and an open mind!
