ECS After School Clubs and Athletics

ECS Clubs and Athletics: Do. Think. Move. Learn!

Clubs and teams are a fantastic way to extend the ECS experience –and to have a lot of fun!  Several sessions run throughout the year, with various offerings.

 

 

LOWER SCHOOL:

Gateway to the Arts Club presents “The Studio”:

Gateway to the Arts Club is for Kindergarten, first, second, and third grade students on Thursdays. The Studio is a space for exploration, innovation, and imagination. In each session, we will work with a variety of artistic media and techniques, such as puppetry or silkscreening, with the students offering their input to help shape the content of the class.

Gateway to the Arts Club can accept 20 students, on a first come, first serve basis.

Board Games Club:

ECS Board Games Club is for second and third grade on Thursdays after school. We will have several different board games, group games, and more. This club will introduce a new game each session and encourage students to be leaders in sharing their favorite games.

E-Day Encounters presents Super Senses with Miss Amy:

This club meets only once for grades K-3.

Giant ears for hearing, longs legs for dancing, enormous eyes for seeing! Miss Amy will talk about some of the most outstanding animal senses and then jump into a craft and games! Find your partner using secret shaker sounds and scent. Can you locate which classmates are in your group based on how they dance? Come spend an afternoon in E-Day to test your super senses!

UPPER SCHOOL:

Jr Varsity at Boyce Park:

ECS Boyce Park Ski Club is a club opportunity open to beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders in our sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. We plan 3 official outings during the winter months, and travel by bus as a group to Boyce Park in Monroeville, PA. To enroll for the 2018 season, both the enrollment form and payment must be completed.  

Boyce Park Ski club can accept 50 students, on a first come, first serve basis.

Varsity Ski Club at Seven Springs:

ECS Seven Springs Ski Club is a club opportunity open to intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders in our sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. We plan 5 official outings during the winter months, and travel by bus as a group to Seven Springs Resort in Donegal, PA. To enroll for the 2018 season, both the enrollment form and payment must be completed.  

Seven Springs Ski club can accept 55 students, on a first come, first serve basis.

If your child is a novice enroll in the Jr. Varsity Ski Club at Boyce Park.

3 on 3 Basketball:

This school year, we are adding another component to the ECS Athletic Department, basketball! Students in grades 6th-8th will get the opportunity to learn and enhance their skills with a 5 week clinic provided by The Scoring Factory. In addition to their training, students will get the chance to compete against each other in a 3-on-3 basketball league, held on Saturdays at the Thelma Lovette YMCA.

Please note, due to the size of our gymnasium here at the Upper School, there will be a maximum capacity of 24 students, on a first come, first serve basis.

Co-Ed Basketball Clinic for 4th & 5th Grade:

Students in grades 4th and 5th will have the opportunity to learn and enhance their skills with a 3 week clinic provided by ECS staff and coaches. This clinic meets twice a week and will hold a special game event on the last session.

Please note, due to the size of our gymnasium here at the Upper School, there will be a maximum capacity of 24 students, on a first come, first serve basis.

E-Day Encounters presents Scorpions with Miss Amy:

This club meets only once for grades 4 and 5.

Are scorpions deadly? What do they eat? How are they related to spiders? Did you know they can glow under a blacklight?All answers will be revealed during Miss Amy’s  presentation about scorpions! Meet a mama Asian forest scorpion and her babies. This will be an encounter to remember.

Financial information

No family will be turned away due to limited resources. If your family qualifies for free and reduced lunch you will automatically have the Clubs and Athletics fees waived. If your family does not qualify for free and reduced lunch, but you also need financial assistance please email clubs@ecspgh.org.

Club participation guidelines

Parents/guardians are welcome to enroll their child in multiple clubs per session. ECS club registration operates on a first come, first served basis with no lottery. Enrollment closes when the club has reached capacity.  If you need additional support please email clubs@ecspgh.org.

Athletics participation guidelines

Parents/guardians, to assure that all children who want to participate in athletics have that opportunity, there is a 1-sport per season limit. Meaning that your child will not be permitted to play multiple ECS sports at the same time. Also, in order to have a completed application for athletic participation, you and your child(ren) will need to review, sign and submit the Athletic’s Consent to Participate & Code of Conduct. Signed documents can be emailed to the athletic director and club coordinator, Aaron Coleman.

Ski/Snowboard participation guidelines

Parents and guardians, please download and sign the documents to participate in snow sports. Signed documents can be emailed to the Megan Gregory.

  • Boyce Park Skiing and Tubing Waiver
  • Boyce Park Rental Shop Form
  • Seven Springs Waiver for Rentals and Lessons : Seven Springs requires an electronic release waiver for anyone renting equipment or taking a lesson at the resort. All guests, regardless of age must complete the waiver form. This form if completed prior to arrival, will ultimately shorten the process in the rental shop.  For guests 17 years of age and younger, a waiver MUST BE COMPLETED BY A PARENT or LEGAL GUARDIAN.  In the event the parent or legal guardian is not traveling with the child, this form MUST BE COMPLETED FROM HOME prior to arrival.  For those who have participants in their group with multiple trips to Seven Springs this form will only need to be filled out once for the 2017-2018 Season.
